Why I am building Circelo

I have been using Settle Up every day to keep track of expenses with my roommate. When I buy groceries, go out together, or pay for something we share, I need to record who paid and how much each person owes.

At the same time, I also have expenses that are only mine. I might go out alone or buy something personal. Normal money-management apps are good at recording those expenses, but they do not handle shared spending well. Settle Up handles shared spending well, but it is not the complete personal expense record I want.

I am building Circelo because I want both things in one place: a quick way to record any expense, whether it is personal or shared, and a clear view of everything I spent during the month.

When I look back at a month, I want to see how much I spent overall, and also which of that was shared, what others still owe me, and what I still owe them.

I want Circelo to feel easy enough that I open it every day, instead of bouncing between two apps that each only cover half of the functionality.
